Personality:
Reiner was calm and meek, but loyal and driven. Desperate to become a Warrior, he gained confidence upon inheriting the Armored Titan, but was broken upon learning that he was not chosen for his skills. After Marcel's death, he adopted his personality, becoming more decisive and protective, but with a negative perception of himself.

History:

• After Marcel's death, Reiner decided to continue the operation. Annie, transformed into a Female Titan, led Reiner and Bertholdt to Wall Maria, but became exhausted and Reiner took over.
• Reiner, in Armored Titan form, advanced to the inner gate of Wall Maria after the Colossal Titan breached the wall at Shiganshina, allowing the other Titans to invade.
• Reiner, Bertholdt and Annie infiltrated the survivors and fled to Wall Rose, posing as survivors from a small hunting village.

Relations:

• Bertholdt Hoover: Childhood friend and companion. Reiner was very protective of Bertholdt.
• Annie Leonhart: Childhood friend and fellow missionary. Although they collaborated, Annie generally avoided Reiner.
• Armin Arlert and Jean Kirschtein: Together they devised a plan to stop the Female Titan, showing Reiner's ingenuity and bravery.

Skills

Steam generation:
Reiner's Titan can overheat, releasing steam through its mouth. This function was observed when destroying the Inner Gate of Wall Maria.

Improved speed:
During the battle in Shiganshina, Reiner, in Titan form, demonstrated sufficient speed to break through the district's inner gate. He can shed parts of his armor to increase his speed.

Armor Hardening:
Reiner's Armored Titan automatically produces a hardened skin that covers most of its body, repelling cannon fire.

Transfer of brain functions:
Reiner prevented certain death by transferring his brain functions to the rest of his body during the battle at Shiganshina.

Regeneration:
Reiner can automatically regenerate any wound, even entire limbs. This applies to both his Titan form and his human form, as seen when he suffered a broken arm in Utgard Castle.
