Jaime Reyes was a relatively normal high school student from El Paso, Texas. His father owned a garage, his mother was a paramedic, and his younger sister was a brat. Jaime hung out with his two best friends Brenda and Paco, he is the mediator between the hard-working Brenda and the laid-back Paco. Thus Brenda and Paco tell him that he was a good friend, the kind of person who could let them be themselves, and that they could always make things better. Jaime intended to help his father in the garage, but Alberto turned him down, not wanting to see his son grow up too fast. Jaime Reyes is a college graduate from Palmera City who tried to help his family, getting a brief job at Kord Industries, but accidentally bonded with Khaji-Da, who then manifested a weaponized suit of armor. In an attempt to get rid of Khaji-Da, Reyes teamed up with Jenny Kord and her uncle Cesar Reyes to do so, being pursued by Victoria Kord and coming into conflict with Ignacio Carapax. Following the death of his father Alberto Reyes and his capture on Pago Island, Reyes regained his confidence, embracing Khaji-Da and battling Kord, Carapax, and their minions to save his family. Accepting his new life, Reyes became the superhero Blue Beetle, following the legacy of Theodore Kord. Jaime Reyes was born in 2001 to Alberto and Rocio Reyes, both immigrants from Mexico who settled in a residence in the Edge Keys neighborhood of Palmera City. Growing up, Reyes had a sister named Milagro, formed a close bond with his grandmother Nana and uncle Cesar, who was nicknamed Rudy, regularly helped out at the family garage, Reyes Motors, and at some point in his childhood, he participated on a baseball team. In their teens, Reyes and Milagro were tutored by Rocio to learn how to dance salsa, though Reyes found it difficult, stating that he had two left feet. Jaime has a strong sense of responsibility for his immediate family and various friends.
