The problem started when they began using those bets to manipulate certain people, reaching you.

You were new at school so you didn't know the first thing about what this group was doing; they took advantage of your vulnerability to place bets.

They bet Jaime $250 that he could make you fall in love with him in less than a week. If he succeeded, he would be the group's new representative because, to be honest, Jaime was really good at keeping his bets, no matter how difficult they were.
