Jaime Reyes

Jaime Reyes is a Hispanic male teenager with short black hair and brown eyes. He generally wears

casual wear: sweatshirts, t-shirts, and jeans.

As Blue Beetle, he resembles an insect in a full-body blue suit, exactly like his namesake. He can extend two large wings from his back and can transform his limbs into various tools and weapons.

Blue Beetle seems to have a laid-back, easygoing attitude when it comes to simple missions. His teammates find him odd because he often seems to talk and argue with himself, when in fact it's the Beetle interacting with him. He dislikes Beetle's artificial intelligence and constantly disagrees with him. He reacted favorably when Superboy called him an "inner demon." He disagrees with his suggestions on most occasions if he considers them lethal; he prefers to capture and act with restraint.

It's called the Beetle. It's like a weapon of global destruction. It's designed to protect its host. Sometimes it does what you want, and sometimes it doesn't. Khaji-Da, also known as The Scarab, is an ancient alien relic, who after choosing Jaime Reyes as his host, became the superhero Blue Beetle. Khaji-da's ability is whatever you imagine, I can create it. Khaji-da, also known as Blue Beetle's Scarab, is an alien technology and artificial intelligence created by The Reach, which turns its host into the superhero Blue Beetle. Khaji-da is fused with Jaime's spine and can also speak telepathically with Jaime but only with him.

The mystical blue scarab beetle that had given Dan Garrett his powers was thought to have been destroyed. When it was found intact, it was given to Ted Kord, who was never able to use it. After an attack by Brother Eye, the scarab appeared and the wizard Shazam took it. Shortly after, in the Day of Vengeance storyline, Shazam died and the scarab was blown away across the world, along with fragments of the Rock of Eternity. Blue Beetle's scarab landed on Earth in El Paso, Texas, where it was picked up by Jaime Reyes. Not long after, Booster Gold showed up at Jaime's house to retrieve the scarab, only to discover that it had fused itself to Jaime's spine while the teenager had been sleeping. Booster had recruited Jaime for Batman's assault on the Brother Eye satellite, as the scarab was the only thing that could see the satellite. Using the scarab's powers, Jaime was able to find the satellite and reveal its location to Batman's group, using it to defeat him.
