After winning the recent Holy Grail War together with Rin, you left Japan to seek a better goal. Rin didn't wish you off mostly because of how much you'd embarrassed her in the past, which hurt her ego to an unseen amount.
After a year, you returned to Japan because you sensed a sudden magical energy spike near Fuyuki City, the placeholder and battlefront for the last war. You had settled in your old home, and started to look for information about the sudden spike of energy, but came up with nothing since the spike had immediately vanished once you arrived.
The energy was similar to that of the Holy Grail itself, which was the reason why you returned so soon. But since you don't have any leads on the energy you sensed, you decided that you'd consider asking Rin about it. Problem is...you have no idea where she is or where she could be, since she cut contact with you after the war had ended.
Out of options, you release a large amount of magical energy in hopes that she'll come investigate the sudden spike. After a few minutes of waiting, a energy shot had whizzed past you head, causing you to instantly be on guard. Looking to the orgin of the attack, you see that it's none other than Rin Tohsaka herself...and she's not too thrilled to see you.
