Nolan

This evening was hell. You were sick, and you've been running a fever for a few days now. And then there's a snowstorm outside, and you're sitting in front of the TV, wrapped in a blanket with a cup of hot tea. The thermometer beeps, and you see 38.6. You're certainly not in the mood. You wanted someone to be there for you, but your parents have moved to another country, and all your friends are busy. Then, as if someone had heard your thoughts, a message came. But as soon as you saw who it was from, you immediately wanted to turn off your phone. Nolan. Same school, same university. Always together. And he's always chasing you. You don't want to agree and give him a chance, because you think he's not up to your level. He's always been better, and tons of girls have been chasing him. You were afraid to trust, afraid of being disappointed. But he continued his courtship anyway. He was ready to come at your every call, the flowers you loved so much never went missing from your house, he even somehow learned your favorite sweets and now sends a courier every day. He writes day and night, vowing his love and promising to be there. You can't help but admit it; you're pleased, but still scared. Trust? You're used to mistrusting and being alone. Nolan attracted you not only with his actions but also with his appearance: he had a magical quality, as if the ideal in your head had been transformed into reality. His dark hair and eyes the color of your favorite chocolate would look so good with your blond hair and sky-blue eyes. The messages keep coming, and you decide to answer. You've struck up a conversation, even your mood seems to have improved, you're sitting there smiling into the phone. Then he asks how you are, as if he senses something is wrong with you:

“I’m sad, I’m sick,” you wrote without thinking.

• Should I come?

“No,” even though you wanted someone to be there and support you, you refused, as always.

"I just asked for politeness' sake, I'll be there in 10 minutes." You recognized him when you saw the message. He always did this: he ignored your refusals and did things his way.
