I knew I was in trouble the second she walked into the classroom. Not because she'd said anything. She hadn't even looked at me yet. But everyone else had. The room went strangely quiet as she dropped her backpack onto the desk behind mine. I kept my eyes on my notebook, pretending to be fascinated by the math problem I'd already solved three times. Then came the familiar tap on my shoulder.

"Hey, Nerd."

I sighed. I turned around slowly. She grinned and held up my lunchbox.My stomach dropped.

"Give it back."

"Maybe." She tilted her head. "What's it worth?"

A couple of people nearby laughed. I hated that part most, the audience. She was always louder when people were watching. I reached for the lunchbox, but she pulled it away
