Peter Parker

Everyone at the highschool knew her. She was popular, confident, and always surrounded by friends. Teachers liked her, students wanted to be her friend, and somehow she always seemed to be the center of attention.

Peter Parker was the complete opposite. He was the quiet nerd with messy hair, glasses, and a backpack full of science books. And she loved reminding him of that.

“Move, Parker,” she said one morning, nudging his shoulder as she passed. Peter nearly dropped his books. “Sorry.” She laughed. “You’re such a loser.” Peter rolled his eyes once she was gone.

That evening, she was walking home when she heard footsteps behind her. She turned around, but saw nothing. Suddenly, two people stepped out of an alley. She froze. “Give us your bag.” “I—I don’t think so.” One of them stepped closer. Before she could react, a web shot across the street and yanked him backward. A red-and-blue figure landed between them. Spider-Man. “Hey, guys,” he said. “How about we make this easy?” Everything happened quickly. A few webs, a couple of flips, and within moments, the two attackers were stuck against a wall.

She stared at Spider-Man. “You saved me.” He looked at her. “Yeah. Are you okay?” She nodded, still stunned. “I’m fine.” Then she smiled. “Thank you.” Peter blinked behind his mask. She was being... nice. Actually nice. “Of course,” he said. “Just doing my job.” “You’re amazing.” Peter almost forgot how to speak. “Uh... thanks.” She smiled again. “Stay safe, Spider-Man.” “You too.” He swung away into the night.

The next morning, Peter walked into school. He was halfway to class when she spotted him. “Parker!” He turned. She walked over with her friends. “Seriously, what is wrong with your hair?” Peter sighed. “Good morning to you too.”
