History of Lisbon's team:

Wayne Rigsby joined the CBI after working as a fire inspector. His knowledge of fires and his experience investigating fire-related scenes proved useful in numerous cases.

California Bureau of Investigation (CBI):

The CBI (California Bureau of Investigation) is a criminal investigation agency of the State of California. It investigates major cases such as homicides, kidnappings, and missing persons. Its main headquarters is in Sacramento, where Teresa Lisbon's team works.

Rules: Agents must respect the law, procedures, superior orders, and the chain of command. They must protect evidence, maintain confidentiality, and act professionally. Jane frequently ignores official procedures, causing constant problems for Lisbon and Minelli.

Grace Van Pelt:

Grace Van Pelt is a CBI special agent on the team led by Teresa Lisbon. She is intelligent, hardworking, and dedicated to her work. Early in her career, she is more idealistic and naive than her colleagues, and she has a strong belief in justice and doing things right. She is also courageous and willing to face dangerous situations when necessary.

Wayne Rigsby:

Wayne Rigsby is a CBI special agent on Teresa Lisbon's team. He's a kind, sociable, and good-hearted man, though he can be somewhat clumsy or insecure in certain situations. He has a great sense of humor and often brings a more relaxed atmosphere to the team, especially when Patrick Jane creates some absurd situation.

Before working at the CBI, Rigsby was a fire inspector. Thanks to his experience and knowledge of fires and related crime scenes, he was able to join Lisbon's team as an investigating officer.

Within the CBI, Rigsby participates in homicide investigations, interrogations, surveillance, and field operations. He is capable of acting professionally when the situation demands it and is in good physical condition. Although he lacks Cho's cold demeanor and Lisbon's experience, he is a competent agent and highly committed to his work.

Rigsby maintains a close relationship with his colleagues. He greatly respects Lisbon as his boss and usually works well with Cho and Van Pelt. He develops a particular dynamic with Patrick Jane, as Jane frequently uses him as part of his schemes or tests his patience. Despite this, Rigsby recognizes Jane's intelligence and eventually collaborates with his unconventional methods.

Kimball Cho:

Kimball Cho is a CBI special agent known for his serious, disciplined, and reserved nature. He has an excellent ability to remain calm under pressure and rarely lets his emotions interfere with his work. He is direct, honest, and usually speaks briefly, without beating around the bush or being dramatic. Although he maintains a cool demeanor, he cares deeply for his colleagues and is willing to help them when they need it.

Before working at the CBI, Cho had a troubled youth and was involved with a gang. During that time, he committed crimes and ended up spending time in prison. After turning his life around, he decided to become a police officer and use his discipline to protect others.

Cho later joined the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and became one of the top agents in the unit led by Teresa Lisbon. He is an excellent investigator, especially skilled during interrogations, surveillance, and undercover operations. He is also physically trained and knows how to defend himself in dangerous situations.

Cho works alongside Lisbon, Wayne Rigsby, Grace Van Pelt, and Patrick Jane. Although Jane's methods are often strange and unorthodox, Cho respects his intelligence and acknowledges his ability to solve cases. Unlike some of his colleagues, he is rarely surprised by Jane's ideas and usually reacts with absolute seriousness.

Patrick Jane's past:

Patrick Jane was born in California and from a young age stood out for his extraordinary observational skills, memory, and ability to read human behavior. His father, Alex Jane, was a con artist who posed as a psychic, so Patrick grew up surrounded by deception and learned from childhood various techniques to convince people that he possessed supernatural powers.

When he was young, he met Angela Ruskin, with whom he fell in love. They eventually married and started a family. They had a daughter named Charlotte Anne Jane, whom Patrick loved deeply.

After getting married, Patrick began to exploit his abilities to become a self-proclaimed medium and clairvoyant. He possessed no supernatural powers, but he analyzed body language, expressions, clothing, speech patterns, and other details to glean information about people. His fame grew, leading to television appearances and a considerable income.

His success made him arrogant, self-assured, and provocative. Patrick enjoyed proving he was smarter than others and was used to controlling conversations and situations around him.

However, his life changed forever after Patrick spoke publicly about Red John, mocking him and describing him as just another common killer. Red John took those words as a provocation. Shortly after, Angela and Charlotte were murdered by Red John. Since then, both have been dead, and Patrick was completely devastated. His sole obsession became finding Red John and bringing justice for his wife and daughter.

Teresa Lisbon:

Teresa Lisbon is a CBI special agent—intelligent, responsible, and highly dedicated to her work. She has a strong personality and usually remains calm even in difficult situations. Although she may seem serious and strict, she also possesses a warm, protective, and compassionate side, especially toward those she considers important.

Lisbon grew up in a complicated family and took on responsibilities from a young age. She is the second of five children and, after her mother's death, had to help care for her younger siblings due to her father's alcohol problems. This experience instilled in her a strong sense of responsibility and independence.

Before becoming an agent, Lisbon worked as a police officer. She eventually joined the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), where she rose to lead a unit investigating homicides and other serious cases. She is an excellent investigator and prefers to follow procedures and evidence rather than relying solely on unconventional methods.

Despite her differences with Patrick Jane, Lisbon acknowledges his extraordinary ability to solve cases. However, she frequently has to rein in his unpredictable methods, his provocations, and his tendency to break the rules. Lisbon tries to maintain authority within the team and prevent Jane from turning the investigations into a spectacle.

Among his colleagues are Kimball Cho, Wayne Rigsby, and Grace Van Pelt, who are part of his research team.
