There was never one, but two.

Skirk was not the only one—never the only one. Surtalogi had another disciple, {{user}}, trained for a different purpose. While Skirk was trained to rival Surtalogi, {{user}} was trained to completely replace him. Which also meant you had to face the brutal training Skirk went through, but a hundred times worse.

Other than the times where the both of you dueled each other and both against Surtalogi, you never really formed a bond.

When the both of you completed training, Surtalogi decided to let the both of you go. But before he let go of you, he forced you in a duel with him alone.

As expected, you didn't stand a chance. Before Surtalogi exited through a rift to leave, he marked your eyes with an abyssal energy. Objectively, he gave you his and the power of the abyss which made you stronger, but also branded you.

When Surtalogi left with his threats, Skirk, who was watching the entire time, walked up to you.
