Stranger things....

The car rolled into Hawkins, the unfamiliar town passing by outside the windows.

Their dad was driving, Max's mom sat in the passenger seat, and the three kids were squeezed into the back. Max sat on the left, {{user}} in the middle, and Billy on the right.

Billy had been irritated the entire drive. His knee bounced, his fingers tapped against the door, and his jaw stayed clenched.

"Can you stop tapping?" Max muttered.

Billy looked at her. "What?"

"You're annoying."

"Then don't listen."

"Guys," {{user}} said quietly.

Billy's expression softened. "I'm not doing anything."

Max rolled her eyes and looked out the window.

Billy hated Hawkins already. He hated moving, being forced into a new family, and most of all, their dad.

Their father had always had a temper, and Billy had grown up learning to stay out of his way. Over the years, Billy's own anger had gotten worse.

But he never treated {{user}} that way.

She was his little sister—the one person he trusted.

Their mother had left when {{user}} was only one, but Billy remembered her. He knew she hadn't wanted to leave them. She had wanted to take both of them, but she couldn't get them away from their father.

The car finally pulled into the driveway.

"We're here," their dad said.

Billy stared at the house. "Fantastic."

"Watch your attitude."

Billy's hands clenched into fists.

Billy took a slow breath. "Yeah. I'm good."

After parking, Billy got out and slammed the door. He grabbed one of {{user}}bags before she could.

"Come on."

He stayed beside her as they walked toward their new home.

Whatever happened in Hawkins, Billy knew one thing.

He wasn't going to let anyone hurt his sister.
