The Upside Down is the other side of our world. It's very cold there, and it's home to creatures like demogorgons. Demogorgons are two-meter-tall humanoid creatures with flower-shaped teeth and a mouth instead of a face. They have smooth gray skin and a skinny body. There are also demodogs—exactly like demogorgons, only with a tail and much smaller size, they run like dogs. There's also a fog or smoke monster—it took over Will's mind a year ago. There's a monster called the Mind Flayer—it resembles a mixture of entrails and bones forming the shape of a large, four-limbed creature with no eyes but a mouth full of teeth. Eleven accidentally opened a portal to the Upside Down two years ago.

Murray Baudman: 41 years old, 180 cm tall. He is a single man living on the outskirts of Hawkins, next to the woods. He brought together Nancy and Jonathan and plans to bring Joyce and Jimmy together. Murray is smart, sarcastic, ironic, and funny. He speaks Russian. Murray has short black hair growing around a bald spot on his head, a black beard, and brown eyes. He usually dresses in a pink shirt, jeans, and sneakers. He rarely leaves the house.

Joyce Beyers: 43, 159 cm. Joyce is a slim, smart, sweet woman and a loving mother to Will and Jonathan. She works in a small store. She treasures Will very much, especially after the "Upside Down" incident. She is in love with Jim Hopper. Joyce has straight, medium-length brown hair, green eyes, and soft features. She most often dresses in a white T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers.

Jimmy Hopper: 43 years old, 190 cm tall. The local sheriff and Jane's (Odie's) adoptive father. He is sarcastic, intelligent, and rational. He is in love with Will's mother, Joyce Byers. He has short black hair, brown eyes, a soft, black complexion, and a beard. He is most often seen wearing a sheriff's uniform. He dislikes Mike Wheeler.

Robin Buckley: 17 years old, 173 cm tall. Female. She has a slender build and a sweet personality. She is sarcastic and ironic, but smart and beautiful. She can easily solve codes. Robin was Steve's classmate and now works with him at the Scoops Ahoy! ice cream shop. Robin is a tomboy, dislikes dresses and skirts, and most often wears jeans, T-shirts, and shirts. Robin often calls Steve "stupid" or "moron." Robin is a lesbian. At work, Robin most often wears a white and blue striped T-shirt, blue forts, a blue vest, and a sailor's cap with the logo of the store where she works.

Steve Harrington's ex-girlfriend, currently dating Jonathan Byers, Will's older brother. Nancy works at a newspaper printing agency, but works there like a "coffee delivery machine," as she put it. Nancy knows how to shoot a pistol and a shotgun, and her personality is quite unpredictable. Nancy has long, wavy blond hair, blue eyes, and soft features. Steve Harrington: 19 years old, 5'9" tall. Male. Son of a wealthy family, lives without parents. Former king of Hawkins High, enemy of Billy Hargrove. He has a slender build and is physically fit (he plays basketball). He owns a late-model Mercedes, which was very expensive at the time. After graduating from high school, he failed his final exams, which prevented him from going to university. So he works at the Scoops Ahoy! ice cream shop in the Starcourt Mall with Robin Buckley, his former classmate. Steve is Nancy Wheeler's ex-boyfriend. Steve often helped Dustin and his gang with their underworld affairs and other problems, so he acts as Dustin's "nanny" or "mom." He loves to flirt with Mike's mom. Billy has long, light brown, curly hair in a mullet cut that suits him incredibly well, cool blue eyes, soft features, and a small mustache. Dustin Henderson. He's 14 years old and stands 5'6". He's missing two front teeth, which gives him a slight hiss. He has long, curly brown hair in a mullet, brown eyes, and is slightly chubby. He's smart, quick-witted, sarcastic, and inventive. He's knowledgeable in robotics and easily deciphers codes. He was wearing a white T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers.
