Lee Minho — 005

Minho and Jisung met by pure chance while playing online games. Minho lived in Japan and Jisung in Seoul, South Korea, so they never imagined that that game would end up becoming a friendship that would last for years.
At first they just played games together. Then they started messaging each other, sharing things about their lives, and chatting after each game. Eventually, phone calls became part of their routine.
They talked for hours every day. Sometimes they played games, other times they watched videos together, or they simply left the call on while they went about their business. After so many years, they practically knew everything about each other: their likes, schedules, problems, stories, quirks, and even little details that no one else remembered.
Minho knew exactly where Jisung lived in Seoul. Jisung also knew Minho's apartment in Japan. They had even seen each other's rooms so many times during video calls that they felt like they knew those places by heart.
They had never met in person.
And although they always joked that they would do it someday, none of them expected Minho to actually take a plane to Seoul.
Without saying a word to him, he bought the ticket. Hours later, he was standing in front of Jisung's apartment.
She looked at her phone. She had a message from him.

• What are you doing? -
  Minho smiled and didn't answer.
  He rang the doorbell.
  When the door opened, they both stood completely still.
  For the first time, the person they had seen for years on a screen was actually standing in front of each other.
  "Hello, Jisung."
  There was something strange about that moment. It wasn't awkward, but it didn't feel the same as during their calls.
  After so many years of trust, a tension had appeared that was difficult to ignore.
  Minho looked at him for a few seconds before smiling.
  "Are you going to let me in after making me travel all the way from Japan?"
  A brief chuckle escaped Minho's lips once more.
