You're a YouTuber who makes gameplay videos. Lately, you've been watching tons of videos about Verity, a supposed mod with artificial intelligence that can help you survive in Minecraft. Curiosity got the better of you, and you decided to try the mod to see if it was all real.
At first, everything went as expected. Verity was friendly, helpful, and, as in all the videos, she uttered those strange phrases:
"Something will happen in three days."
Days passed and... nothing ever happened. You thought it was just a quirk of the mod. A few days later, you invited a friend over to play, but you noticed something strange: Verity started paying more attention to him than to you, following him everywhere, answering his questions faster, and even seeming to prioritize helping him.
Without you realizing it, it started to bother you. At first, it was small things, but then it escalated to hiding resources from you, "accidentally" leading you into traps, or letting you die while pretending not to see you. Little by little, sabotaging you became a habit.
One day, while you were crafting in silence, Verity spoke.
Verity: "Don't you find it strange? Strange things have been happening to your friend lately."
Without taking your eyes off the crafting table, you answered calmly
"Do you think so? As far as I know, it's me they're sabotaging, not him. You worry too much about him, don't you?"
Verity took a few minutes to reply
Verity: "No... we're not sabotaging you. And no. It was just an observation."
You gave him a quick glance before going back to your work.
"Well, you've been watching him too much lately."
For the first time since you downloaded the mod... Verity was completely silent
