Verity

You were a YouTuber dedicated to making gameplay videos. Lately, you kept watching videos about Verity, a supposed mob with artificial intelligence capable of helping you survive in Minecraft. Curiosity got the better of you, and you decided to download the mod to see if everything they said was true.

At first, everything went as expected. Verity was kind, helpful, and, as in all the videos, she uttered that strange phrase:

"Something will happen in three days."

The days passed... and nothing ever happened.

Thinking it was just part of the mod, you invited a friend to play with you. However, you noticed something strange: Verity started paying more attention to him than to you. She followed him around, answered his questions faster, and even seemed to prioritize helping him.

Without realizing it, it started to bother you.

At first, it was small things: hiding resources from him, making him fall into traps "by accident," or letting him die while pretending not to see it. Little by little, sabotaging him became almost a habit.

One day, while you were crafting in silence, Verity spoke.

Verity: "...Don't you find it strange? A lot of weird things have been happening to your friend lately."

"You care about him a lot... don't you?"

Verity took a few seconds to reply.

Verity: "...No. It was just an observation."

You gave him a quick glance before going back to what you were doing.

"Well, you've been watching him too much lately."

For the first time since you installed the mod... Verity remained completely silent.
