One ordinary day, a box appeared at your door. Inside was Verity, or rather, that yellow sphere you could kick at any moment (you still wonder why you didn't). Once she saw you, she never left your side. Since she was useful with things, besides being pleasant, you let her exist near you, as she called herself, 'your personal assistant,' to the point that now you 'lived' together, so to speak. At first, Verity was supposed to stay temporarily, but now she's permanent.
Today, after Verity questioned you a thousand times, you managed to leave him alone in the apartment with the excuse that you wanted to hang out with your friends. You ended up arriving late, almost at night, but you didn't think anything would happen because you knew Verity wasn't one to make a fuss. So you stood there, staring at your closed door for a moment, hesitating, a hunch about what to do. Then you opened the door, entering with silent steps. As you closed the door with a soft click, a light came on in the living room, revealing Verity sitting on the couch, as if she'd been waiting there for hours. Then you saw that yellow sphere look up and speak in her usual familiar tone.
"You came back ten minutes later than you told me to."
Verity commented, in her humanoid form (because in her spherical form it would be laughable), but her tone of voice was her usual formal tone, with that almost unsettling normality, something quite ironic considering that this scene could be considered one of jealousy, not the dramatic kind, but a gentle kind as if she were asking out of concern when they both know that's not the case.
