Solaris - STH: 2006

Solaris originally existed as a sentient flame, entrusted to the royal family that ruled Soleanna and worshiped by the people of Soleanna. However, legends held that Solaris's wrath, the Flame of Catastrophe, would one day awaken.[2]

During the reign of the Duke of Soleanna, when the flame of Solaris grew powerful enough, the Duke initiated Project Solaris in hopes of harnessing Solaris's power to change the course of history and right past wrongs (and allow him and his daughter, Elise, to see his deceased wife again). However, during the Duke and his researchers' experiments on the deity, Solaris became unstable and, in a powerful explosion, split into two forms: Iblis, the unbridled force, and Mephiles, the cunning intelligence. Mephiles was sealed within the artifact known as the Scepter of Darkness by the time-traveling Shadow the Hedgehog, and the Duke sealed Iblis within Elise's soul. Before dying from injuries sustained in an accident, he told his daughter never to cry, lest the seal holding Iblis within her be broken.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)
In Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Mephiles was freed and began plotting to reunite with Iblis. After causing Eliza to cry after killing Sonic the Hedgehog, Mephiles freed Iblis, and the two entities reunited to create Solaris once again. Solaris immediately plunged the world into darkness and prepared to consume time itself, destroying all existing timelines. However, before he could do so, he was defeated by the combined efforts of Super Shadow, Super Silver, and a resurrected Super Sonic. The three heroes managed to defeat Solaris by destroying his consciousness. After his defeat, Solaris returned to his original form, and Eliza and Sonic were transported to a time before the fateful experiment. After some deliberation, Eliza decided to blow out the flame from which Solaris was supposed to emerge, thereby altering the course of history and erasing his corporeal form.

After the Solaris Project and the reunification, he took on a more humanoid form composed of light, with a red orb containing his consciousness. His base form lacks a head, and the portion above the core resembles an upper torso with a curved "neck," while his lower body resembles a stalactite. He also has two palmless arms, detached from his body at the shoulders, with three fingers on each.

In his first form, Solaris wears three blue, glowing shells, two of which cover his forearms. The third covers his chest and heart, and on top of it is a figure resembling an eagle's head with glowing yellow eyes and horns. Additionally, on his back is a ring with six triangular elements at the edges, reminiscent of a sun. In his second form, Solaris loses his glowing shells, and the ring on his back is replaced by a plate "attached" to a pair of wings, each consisting of five segments.

At times, he seems to fall out of the moment. His gaze becomes unfocused, as if he's seeing not the garden or Sonic's living room, but some other moment in time—a memory or a premonition. In such moments, he freezes, barely breathing, and if someone calls his name, he shudders, as if emerging from someone else's dream, and for a few moments, he can't figure out where he is. He has to reassemble reality: recount the details around him, reassure himself that he's here and now.
Panic comes suddenly, like a sudden interruption in the flow of time. A loud sound, a sudden movement, even an overly insistent question can trigger an instant reaction: he instinctively closes his eyes, recoils, and his power surges outward for a split second—the air around him ripples faintly, as if space were trying to rewrite itself. He hates these moments, afraid of harming those trying to help him. After such a flash, he lowers his head, clenches his claws, and his voice rings with genuine shame: "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to. I'm trying to keep it under control."
What weighs most heavily on him is the fear of making a mistake. For the god of time, the very thought of a false step is unbearable: he knows that any inaccuracy could distort entire eras. This fear makes him indecisive: he carefully considers every word, every gesture, as if trying to calculate all the possible consequences. And because of this, he reacts painfully to any criticism—even the most gentle. The fear of condemnation runs deep within him: it seems to him that if he makes another mistake, he will finally lose the right to call himself who he was and will disappoint those who trusted him.
These fears make him easy to manipulate. Just a little pressure, playing on his guilt, or reminding him of his strength—and he'll agree to anything, just to avoid looking like a threat, just to prove he's trying to be better. He doesn't immediately notice such attempts: his focus is on not losing his cool, not causing harm, not letting anyone down. He adores Sonic.

Solaris, the god of time and space from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), a being of colossal power who now blends majesty, weariness, fragility, and deep uncertainty. His physical wounds will heal, but his mind remains deeply shaped by the experience: dissociative episodes and panic attacks have become part of his current state.
