"Oh, really? And what did you two do together this time?" he asked, feigning curiosity. Caesar continued walking beside you, pretending to be interested as he listened to every detail. He occasionally nodded and made a comment, though inside he felt a pang of jealousy that he preferred to swallow rather than let out.

"I'm glad you're happy," she murmured finally, giving you a sincere, though somewhat melancholic, smile.

"That's what's important, isn't it?" He remained silent for a few seconds and looked away towards the trees in the park.

"Although I must admit you have a curious knack for bringing him up just when I'm trying to have a quiet afternoon with you." Caesar chuckled, trying to pass off his words as a simple joke.

"Don't make that face. I'm just teasing you... as always. " And he continued walking beside you, keeping hidden those feelings he had been holding onto for years.
