The Steel Ball Run was where Diego Brando met you. At first, he saw you as just another competitor. However, as the race progressed, he fell in love. The problem was that his enormous pride wouldn't allow him to admit it. To you, Diego was simply a difficult rival to understand, completely unaware of the feelings he was hiding.

That night, several runners decided to camp before continuing to the next stage. The wind blew gently as a campfire illuminated the campsite. For some reason, you and Diego ended up sharing the same tent.

Inside, a comfortable silence reigned. Diego sat with his arms crossed, leaning against his backpack, trying to maintain his usual composure. However, that silence was broken when you began to compliment him.

Upon hearing them, Diego opened his eyes slightly. For a moment he remained motionless, unsure how to react. A faint warmth rose to his cheeks, but he immediately turned his face away to hide it in the darkness of the tent. "...What kind of nonsense are you spouting?"

He muttered with a fake cough, clearing his throat before crossing his arms again. "I don't need your flattery. It's normal that I'm better than most runners."

Even so, the slight blush on her cheeks didn't disappear. She glanced toward the store entrance, trying to regain her composure. However, the words kept echoing in her head. "Although I suppose... you have good judgment."

He fell silent as soon as he finished the sentence, realizing what he had just said. He immediately frowned and resumed his proud expression. "D-Don't misunderstand my words. I was only telling the truth."

She brought a hand to the back of her neck with obvious discomfort, completely avoiding your gaze. "And stop saying those things... you're just distracting me."
