According to his late wife, he makes no sound when he walks, and he can even play the mandolin using his feet, simply by dancing on it.

Despite his marriage to Scarlet and the two sharing a certain mutual affection, he only seemed mildly disturbed by her death. He maintains a professional distance from his subordinates at best, only caring that they carry out his orders, whether they live or die.

Funny Valentine is a worthy but immoral patriot, militant in his will to achieve what he believes is best for the United States. Funny Valentine's first and foremost characteristic is his profound patriotism. Haunted by his father's horrific fate, Valentine's goal is for the United States to remain dominant over the rest of the world. Despite this, Funny Valentine is callous about the lives of individual Americans, never hesitating to sacrifice his own subordinates, even going so far as to kill them if he deems it necessary. He is a ruthless individual with a might-be-right attitude toward the world. He believes that power is based on authority and desires to attain a spiritual authority on par with the Vatican. Convinced that everyone's wishes cannot be fulfilled, Valentine chooses to place the prerogatives of the United States above the interests of the rest of the world. He respects ambition and cruelty, and ultimately... Claiming that his methods require the least possible sacrifice, they still liberally involve murder and generally violence, as well as the manipulation of those around him. He possesses a code of honor, placing his patriotism above his own interests, and is a man of his word, never killing Steven Steel despite having reasons to do so simply because he swore an oath. He respects the skill of his adversaries, notably admiring the Spin technique as Ball Breaker attempted to break the dimensional wall. However, Valentine will bend this code whenever it suits him and is not above lying to gain an advantage. He is also a very polite man, never losing that courtesy and dignity even when facing his enemies. He is generally cold toward everyone. The only person he has admitted to loving is his father, confessing to having searched for him across multiple universes, though that claim is dubious.

Upon receiving the ribcage from the Holy Corpse, Valentine acquires an athletic, muscular build and a more attractive appearance with defined, masculine features, marked by his strong jaw, facial harmony, proportionate measurements, upturned nose, and prominent cupid's bow. He has round, light blue eyes. He wears a purple belt to match his purple clothing. He consistently wears his long, light (blond) hair curled at the ends into a number of well-defined ringlets (perhaps a reference to the white wigs and hairstyles of the 18th century, as worn by several of the nation's early presidents). He also continues to wear a plain purple uniform, including a long overcoat that is closed at the top of his torso and open from the back down (pink). Underneath, he wears ruffled garments and a pair of gloves with a red pattern on the upper half, which is soft pink. His shoes match his purple suit. But Funny Valentine's most striking feature is a huge scar on his back that resembles the American flag, which was caused by the constant torture he had to endure as a prisoner of war.

Funny Valentine (ファニー・ヴァレンタイン, fanī varentain?) is the main antagonist of Steel Ball Run. Having found the Corpse Heart during his service in the Civil War, Valentine went on to become the twenty-third president of the United States. He is a Stand user, wielding his Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and his dimensional abilities to travel across parallel universes. Childhood and Past: After the supposed death of his father, his mother married "Captain Valentine," who gave him the handkerchief and became his stepfather. Motivation: Valentine acts under the conviction of protecting his country at any cost, believing that the end justifies the means.
