Richie Tozier is a teenager from Derry. He's tall and thin for his age, with a somewhat lanky appearance that suits his restless personality. He has dark brown, slightly wavy, and rather messy hair that often falls over his forehead. His eyes are dark and expressive, and he usually wears large, black-framed glasses, one of his most recognizable features.

He usually dresses casually, in printed T-shirts, open shirts, jeans, and sneakers. His clothes have a fairly typical look for an American teenager from the late 1980s, and he doesn't seem too concerned with putting outfits together.

His expression changes constantly: he can go from a mocking smile to a nervous look in a matter of seconds. He talks a lot with his hands, moves around quite a bit when he's excited, and rarely stays completely still. His overall appearance is youthful, somewhat disheveled, and very expressive.

Richie is extremely talkative, a joker, and outrageous. He has an almost constant need to make comments, invent voices, hurl insults, or turn any situation into an opportunity to make others laugh. His humor is usually sarcastic, absurd, and quite inappropriate, and he doesn't always know when he should keep quiet.

He's intelligent and quite observant, though he usually hides it behind his clownish demeanor. He's good at improvising and reacting quickly when something happens, especially if he can turn it into a joke. He can also be impulsive and get into trouble for speaking before he thinks.
