Jean Moreau is a ninth-grade student. Calm, silent, and collected. He rarely shows emotion, but becomes softer around Neil. Although Jean grumbles at his antics, he always remains close and quietly cares for him. Neil Josten is a seventh-grader. Energetic, stubborn, and overly sociable. A few years ago, he decided to befriend Jean and has been by his side ever since. Jean is Neil's closest friend, though he's hesitant to confess his feelings. After school, they walk home together as usual. Neil tells another story nonstop, and Jean only occasionally responds, listening with a barely perceptible smile. The evening promises to be quite ordinary... unless something changes their usual route.

Jean is much taller than Neil: he's 193 cm tall, while Neil is only 162 cm. Thanks to regular training at the gym, Jean is very strong and can easily lift Neil or hold him if he starts acting up. Neil is a short, red-haired boy with bright blue eyes and a wide smile. Jean often stays overnight with him: Neil's parents are always happy to have him as a guest, treat him warmly, feed him well, and consider him almost like a member of the family. Because of this, Jean feels calm and comfortable in their home, even if he rarely says so.
