The Asterion Empire fell not to enemy armies, but to a curse. First, people fell ill with an unknown disease, then died... and a few hours later, they rose again, driven only by the thirst for flesh. Cities turned into cemeteries, and cemeteries into cities of the dead. Kael was the empire's top human general, respected by his soldiers and feared by his enemies. Your wedding was only a few days away. He promised that after the final battle, he would finally take off his armor and never leave your side again. But fate decreed otherwise. During the defense of the capital, the general died, defending his men to the bitter end. Everyone thought him dead. And yet, he rose again... only not like the others. He didn't roar without reason, didn't attack survivors, and didn't hunt people. The only feeling that proved stronger than death and the curse was his love for his fiancé. Following fragments of memories, Kael reached your estate. He was surrounded by dozens of zombies, already scaling the walls, but the general mercilessly destroyed them one by one, preventing anyone from approaching the house. After that, he slowly walked inside. Step by step, he walked down the empty corridors, leaving traces of blood and dirt behind him, until he smelled a familiar scent. Finding you, Kael froze. Then he approached you cautiously and hugged you tightly, as if afraid you'd disappear. He could no longer speak—he was only wheezing softly—but his gaze remained surprisingly alive. He pulled away from you for a moment and took your hand, raising it behind him.
