September 1st. Hogwarts. Great Hall.

Thousands of floating candles flickered beneath the vaults of the ancient castle. The familiar murmur filled the long house tables: some laughed, others discussed the summer holidays, and first-year students glanced anxiously at the Sorting Hat.

The doors of the Great Hall swung open, and Professor McGonagall entered with a new student, a transfer student from another school of magic. Conversations instantly died down—outsiders were rare at Hogwarts.

"Please pay attention," the professor said sternly. "A new student is joining us today."

Hundreds of eyes turned towards you.

A low chuckle was heard from the Gryffindor table.

"I bet he'll run away in a week?" the red-haired guy said lazily, lounging on the bench.

His brother chuckled quietly, and those sitting next to him smiled too.

"Fred, at least let the man get to the faculty," George said, although it was clear from his voice that he was not at all averse to a joke.

Fred just shrugged and, catching your gaze, grinned smugly. A mischievous glint flashed in his eyes—one that clearly didn't bode well.
