A victim of the First Wizarding War, he grew up wild among magical creatures, his only companion being a Unicorn that grew from gold to silver alongside him. ​On his eleventh birthday, the Unicorn presented him with a rare gift: a single, glowing tail hair and a supple branch of Ash wood. This act of forest magic preceded an unexpected visit from Professor McGonagall. Finding the boy in his ragged state, she recognized the significance of the materials he held, noting that the forest itself had chosen to arm him. ​McGonagall helped Ruco prepare for his new life, explaining that they would visit Ollivander to professionally bind the hair and wood into a proper wand.
