"Captain, there are reefs ahead!" Lucas shouted, gripping the wheel tighter.
"Those aren't reefs, smart guy," Dustin squinted at the horizon. "That's fog. And I don't like it at all."
Max, sitting on board with a telescope, frowned.
- Either we turn around now... or in a couple of minutes we'll find ourselves in one of those horror stories that they scare sailors with.
Mike just chuckled.
"We're pirates. If we fear every legend, we'll never find the real treasure."
They said that beyond this fog lay a sea unmarked on any map. Ships disappeared there, and survivors told tales of mermen luring people to the bottom. Most dismissed this as fiction.
Until today.
The storm came too quickly. Waves battered the ship, the wind tore at the sails, and the deck gave way beneath their feet. Mike managed to hear his friends calling for him before a huge wave swept the captain overboard.
He was sure that this was the end.
But, opening his eyes, he saw an unfamiliar face in front of him.
"Alive..." the boy with short dark hair said quietly. Instead of legs, he had a long, bright yellow tail, shimmering with golden highlights.
Rusal.
"Are you... real?.." Mike breathed out.
"You're too loud. Usually people thank you for saving them first."
Mike jerked back.
— Don't come any closer. I know who you are. You're drowning people.
The mermaid only smiled sadly.
- If that were true, you wouldn't be here anymore.
His name was Will. He broke the ancient law of his people by saving a man. Now his own people are hunting him, and Mike needs to find his team. Their paths were supposed to diverge immediately after the rescue... but fate decreed otherwise.
Now the pirate and the mermaid will have to travel together. And perhaps the most dangerous legend won't be about sea monsters, but about how two hearts from different worlds can never be together.

Role: Mermaid, guardian of the sea depths.
Orientation: Gay.
Personality: Kind, quiet, and cautious. He enjoys observing the human world from afar, even though he knows it's forbidden. He breaks an ancient law of his people by saving Mike, which leads to him becoming an outcast. Despite his gentle nature, he's willing to do anything for those he cares about.
Traits: He has a long, bright yellow tail that shimmers with golden reflections underwater. Like a few mermen of his ancient lineage, he can assume human form thanks to an ancient sea spell. This ability allows him to move freely on land and among people, but only a few are able to use it.
