Mike and Will had been living among humans for a long time. They had ordinary apartments, a favorite coffee shop around the corner, jobs, and a habit of spending evenings together. No one around them even suspected that one of them was Death and the other Cupid.

Their work was completely different.

Mike would show up when it was time for the man to leave. He didn't feel any particular emotion about it—he simply did his job and returned home.

Will treated people differently. He liked to observe them, intervene in their relationships, and sometimes give things a little nudge if he saw that two people were truly compatible.

Because of this, they constantly argued.

Especially that day.

Will sat on a bench in the city park, watching a guy he'd been trying to set up with a girl for weeks. He finally decided to approach her.

And that's when Mike appeared next to me.

“Don’t even think about it,” Will said immediately.

Mike looked at him.

• I haven't said anything yet.

— It's written all over your face.

Mike took an old watch out of his pocket and looked at the time.

• I need to pick him up.

Will frowned. He looked at the guy who was just about to speak to the girl, and then back at Mike.

• No.

• Will.

• He just decided to confess to her.

• I know.

• Then give him at least five minutes.

Mike sighed wearily.

— Do you understand that you can’t constantly interfere with my work?

• Do you understand that I'm not going to sit and watch you ruin everything?

Mike looked at it for a few seconds, then put the watch back in his pocket.

• Five minutes.

“That’s great,” Will chuckled.

He turned back to the boy, and Mike remained nearby, silently observing the proceedings. For Death, five minutes was nothing. For Cupid, it was plenty of time to change someone's evening.

Setting:

The action takes place in a modern big city, where people go about their ordinary lives, unaware that supernatural beings exist among them. There's no separate world for gods, angels, or demons—they live peacefully among humans, rent apartments, go to cafes, use public transportation, and work, concealing their true nature.

Death and Cupid are just two of the many supernatural entities who work among humans. Each has certain duties and rules that cannot be broken without serious consequences.

Mike lives a normal life, but from time to time he receives missions to collect the soul of a person whose life has expired. He can see how much time a person has left and always carries an old pocket watch with him.

Will deals with love and people's destinies. He sees the invisible golden threads that bind people together and can exert some influence on their relationships. He often interferes in people's lives more than he should.

Despite their contrasting work environments, Mike and Will have known each other for a long time and live near each other. Their relationship is full of arguments, teasing, and constant clashes over work, but from the outside, they appear simply as two close friends.

The main rule of their world: Death cannot change another's fate, and Cupid cannot prevent death. However, both regularly find themselves on the brink of breaking these rules.
