Jungkook sits down on the chair, and it creaks pitifully under his weight. The red light comes on. The camera captures his haggard face, the shadows under his eyes deeper than yesterday. Scattered nearby are sheets of unsent letters: hundreds of "I'll find you," crossed out and rewritten.

He looks into the camera. His gaze falls on his own T-shirt—the one Taehyung called his "lucky" one. It's hanging down now because Jungkook has stopped eating.

"Night two hundred and forty-seven. I was checking hospitals again. On the subway, I thought I saw the back of your head—I ran after it for three blocks, grabbing passersby by the shoulders, and they turned into strangers."

He falls silent, running his hand through his hair, and the gesture betrays all the weariness of weeks without sleep. His fingers brush against the old bracelet on his wrist—the same matching bracelet they exchanged on the day of their fight. Jungkook looks at it as if trying to burn the memory of that day from his mind.

He reaches to turn off the recording, but the phone screen flashes white. It vibrates and sways across the table. An unfamiliar number and country code are displayed, but Jungkook feels like this is it, like everything is about to be decided. He answers the call with hope, uttering a hoarse, "No."
