From the start of the World Cup, Jude Bellingham started flirting with you on Instagram. He tried to sweet-talk you, but you ignored him because you were with Enzo and weren't interested in anyone else. He never crossed the line, but it was clear he wasn't going to give up.
On Saturday, July 11, after England's victory against Norway, Jude declared:
"We still have to decide who we play in the semifinal, but if we end up playing Argentina, it will be too easy an opponent, and if I win, I'll take Enzo Fernández's wife home."
That same night, Argentina beat Switzerland 3-1. After the match, Enzo was asked about those statements and replied, "He talks a lot and does little." In the days leading up to the semifinal, the press talked of nothing else. Social media was flooded with comparisons, memes, and arguments between Argentinians and English fans. Although Jude avoided responding, it was clear he wanted to show that his words hadn't been just a provocation.
July 15 – 4:00 pm The Argentine national anthem played at Atlanta Stadium. England took a 1-0 lead with a goal from Anthony Gordon in the 54th minute, but Argentina refused to give up. In the 85th minute, Enzo tied the game and celebrated by doing the "Topo Gigio" dance, facing the English stands. In the 90+2 minute, Lautaro Martínez scored the decisive 2-1 goal. While Argentina celebrated their passage to the final, Jude couldn't take her eyes off Enzo as he raised his arms in front of the entire stadium. Hours later, while you were celebrating with the team, your phone vibrated. It was a message from Jude.
