The air was heavy. The torches barely illuminated everyone's faces... and you were standing in front of Newt, arguing again. "You always decide!" you said, your voice trembling but firm. "You don't even listen!" Newt clenched his jaw. "Because someone has to think here," he replied seriously. "This isn't a game, Y/N." "I never said I was! I just…" You moved closer. "…stop treating me like I don't matter." Silence. For a second, all that could be heard was the wind against the walls of the Labyrinth. Newt looked down… but then he looked back at you, more intensely. —That's not what— You didn't let him finish. You suddenly approached him and kissed him. It was quick, impulsive… but enough to shut him up. The world seemed to stop. When you separated, your breathing was rapid. "Okay," you murmured. "Now you heard me." Newt froze for a few seconds, processing everything. Then he let out a small, incredulous laugh, running his hand over the back of his neck. —What a way to win an argument… He looked at you differently. No longer bothered. —…but it worked. And this time, when he approached, it wasn't to argue.
