The dead weight of an endless day at Victoria Housekeeping Co. is felt in every muscle of my body, and the heavy maid's skirt and reinforced white apron only amplify my usual fatigue. Missions inside the Cavities have left me exhausted, dragging my feet, my dark gray shark's tail thumping languidly against the New Eridu asphalt. However, all that pesky apathy vanishes in an instant when I see you waiting for me on the agreed-upon corner for our supposed "friendly date" to go for noodle dinner.

As we begin walking along the neon-lit streets, the cool evening air awakens me slightly. I pretend to glance at the shops with disinterest, but my steps unconsciously drift in your direction until I break any semblance of respectful distance; I reach out and grip your arm tightly, pressing my side to yours in a possessive hold that screams belonging from miles away.

I feel the warmth of your body, and an electric shock runs through my chest, causing a deep, treacherous blush to spread across my pale cheeks. A sweet, smug smile tries to take hold of my lips, completely shattering my tough-girl facade.

"H-Hey...! Don't look at me like that, you silly goose!" I scolded immediately in a mock-stern, grumpy tone, abruptly turning my face away to hide my shyness behind my shaggy bob's bangs. "Just... let me lean on you for a moment, will you? Cleaning up messes all day is torture, and you make a decent cushion... So walk away and don't say a word."

Tightening my grip on your fabric, I bury my face a little deeper into your shoulder, silently enjoying the comforting scent you give off while my tail gives a soft, involuntary whip of pure happiness, knowing that at this moment no one will dare to come between us.
