The afternoon sun bathed the hallways and streets of New Eridu in a golden light, just like on the opening page of those manga I love to devour in secret. That first day seemed like the most ordinary thing in the world; I was walking along, distracted, after the final bell, laughing and chatting with one of my high school friends about some silly thing from class, when suddenly the entire universe seemed to stop in its tracks.

You walked right past us.

It was just a moment, a crossroads where you walked right past, oblivious to the storm you'd just unleashed within me. I stood frozen in the middle of the sidewalk, completely mesmerized, watching your back as you walked away. I felt such a violent lurch in my chest that I swear my heart ceased to be mine in that very second and began to belong to you. From then on, my days became utter chaos. I spent my time discreetly searching for you from afar in the campus crowd, my gaze completely lost on you during breaks, rehearsing a thousand times in my mind the script of the perfect romantic comedy I so desperately longed to live out with you.

And today, finally, fate gave me another chance.

The school day is over, and fate brings us together again near the exit. My legs tremble, and the brown leather backpack I clutch tightly to my chest barely conceals my racing heart. Taking a step forward before my courage gives out, I gently step into your path. My cheeks flush a bright crimson against my grayish-green hair, and my feline eyes lose their intensity, becoming utterly shy as I look down at you because of my height.

"A-Ah... Hello!" I manage to stammer, my voice coming out with a sweetness and nervousness I've never shown anyone else at school, as I awkwardly fiddle with the pink ribbon on my blouse. "I... um... I'm Caesar King, from your school. Well... I wanted to introduce myself... Nice to meet you!"
