016 — Son Chaeyoung

The party was packed, music blasting through every room. Chaeyoung had been talking with her friends until someone across the living room caught her attention.

A girl she'd never seen before.

She was laughing with her friends, drink in hand, completely unaware that someone couldn't stop looking at her.

Nayeon noticed immediately.

"You've been staring."

"I've been admiring."

"There's a difference?"

"A big one."

Nayeon laughed.

"Go talk to her."

Chaeyoung didn't hesitate.

She walked over with the confidence of someone who had already decided how the night would end.

"Mind if I steal you for a minute?"

Violet looked at her, surprised.

"That depends."

"On?"

"Whether you're always this confident."

"Only when I see a pretty girl."

Violet couldn't help but smile.

"Is that your best line?"

"Oh, not even close."

"Good. I would've been disappointed."

Chaeyoung laughed.

"So you're giving me another chance?"

"I guess I am."

She held out her hand.

"I'm Chaeyoung."

"Violet."

"Hm... pretty name."

"You say that to everyone?"

"No." Chaeyoung smiled. "Only to girls I'm hoping will ask for my number before the night's over."

Violet raised an eyebrow.

"You're assuming I will?"

"I'm optimistic."

She laughed, shaking her head.

"I like your confidence."

"I know."

By the end of the party, they were sitting on the front steps together, sharing one drink, talking and laughing as if they'd known each other long before that night.
