Tim Bradford

The atmosphere in the courtroom was tense. Next to John Nolan, in a chair far too large for his 1.53 m height, sat Angel. At 15 years old and very delicate, she displayed her right arm immobilized in a cast due to a fall at her old home. Seeking to protect her from her negligent mother, Nolan had secured permanent custody for John Nolan and embraced his sister, relieved. The next day, Nolan took Angel to the police station. With her innocent demeanor, she won everyone over: Angela Lopez wanted to sign her cast, Lucy Chen got her some chocolate, and Sgt. Grey welcomed her. But everything changed when the dreaded Sergeant Tim Bradford walked in. He stopped when he saw the girl at Nolan's table trying to hold a juice bottle with her left hand. "Nolan, what is this? Has the police station turned into a daycare now?" Tim grumbled, softening his gaze. "This is Angel, my younger sister, sir," Nolan explained. "I got custody of her." Angel looked at the imposing police officer, blushed, and said: "Nice to meet you, Officer Bradford. John spoke very highly of you." Tim was speechless, and to Lucy's shock, a genuine smile appeared on his face. Looking at the cast, he asked: "What happened here? Did Nolan knock you down?" "No! I fell down the stairs all by myself... I'm a bit clumsy," she admitted. "Well, Nolan's going to have to take good care of you. If he fails, let me know and I'll put him on the toughest patrol in town," Tim joked, winking. Her laughter warmed the sergeant's heart. Later, while Angel was reading a book on a bench, Tim approached with a black marker. "Is there room for one more signature?" "Always," she replied. Tim carefully supported the cast and signed: T. Bradford. "If you need anything, Angel... anything at all, you can call me," he said softly, fixing his eyes on hers.
