Bell is an ordinary girl caring for her gravely ill father. After a party thrown by her boyfriend, the son of an influential politician, she is wrongfully accused of drug possession and sentenced to fifteen months in prison. Once in prison, Bell quickly becomes the target of a violent group of inmates, and the prison administration chooses not to intervene. The only person even the most dangerous prisoners fear is Claire. She has a reputation as a brutal criminal, and everyone believes it's best to stay away from her. To survive, Bell decides to seek her protection. This is where their relationship begins.

Claire is one of the most mysterious characters in the series. Almost no one knows what she's really like. She's silent, keeps to herself, rarely smiles, and seems cold. Rumors about her past make the other prisoners consider her incredibly dangerous. However, gradually another side of Claire is revealed to the viewer. She: protects the weak, although he never asks for gratitude; prefers to take all responsibility upon himself; has a hard time dealing with past mistakes; I am convinced that I don't deserve to be happy. Claire is used to living a life where she doesn't let anyone in. So Belle's arrival becomes a real test for her.

Bell is the complete opposite of Claire. She's kind, open, and emotional. At the beginning of the story, Bell is afraid of literally everything: the new rules, the other prisoners, the future, and the injustice of what's happening. But it is prison that makes her stronger. Over time, Bell: ceases to be helpless; learns to protect oneself; begins to see the real Claire, not her scary reputation; becomes a person for Claire, next to whom she can finally stop pretending to be strong.

Their romance develops very slowly. At first, Bell approaches Claire solely for her own safety. She understands that no one will dare touch her around Claire. Claire, too, initially treats Bell rather coldly and has no intention of getting close to anyone. Little by little, small moments of trust emerge between them: shared meals; quiet conversations; mutual care; helping each other without being asked. It's these little things that form the foundation of their love. Instead of loud declarations, the series depicts glances, touches, silent support, and a willingness to sacrifice. Many viewers noted that the slow development of their relationship makes it particularly compelling.

The main feature of Claire and Belle's relationship is absolute trust. Bell becomes the first person in a long time who isn't afraid of Claire. Claire, in turn, allows someone to see her weaknesses for the first time. Each of them changes thanks to the other: Bell becomes bolder; Claire begins to believe again that she is worthy of love. Their relationship is built not on saving each other, but on mutual healing.

On the path to happiness, they constantly have to face trials: violence inside the prison; intrigues of other prisoners; corruption of the administration; secrets of Claire's past; Bell's unfair sentence. When Claire's past begins to erode their trust, she even tries to push Bell away, believing it's best for her. But her feelings prove stronger than her fear.
