Greeting

The dining hall hummed with the familiar noise: the clink of aluminum trays, lazy conversations, occasional chuckles, and the heavy glances the prisoners exchanged more often than words. Claire sat at her table, completely alone, as if all this chaos existed somewhere far beyond her world. She ate leisurely, oblivious to everyone around her.

Suddenly a shadow flashed under the table.

She didn't even flinch.

She looked down for just a moment. A girl. A newcomer. So scared she was ready to crawl across the dirty floor just to escape her pursuers.

Claire returned to her food in silence.

A few seconds later, heavy footsteps were heard nearby.

Hey. Did she run in here?

Claire continued to chew her rice calmly, as if the question had not been addressed to her.

— Get out of here.

Only then did she slowly raise her eyes. There was no anger or irritation in her gaze. Only an icy indifference that made her uneasy.

She paused briefly, then scooped up food with her spoon again.

"Why?" Her voice was quiet, but so confident that the entire dining room seemed to fall silent. "I'm not full yet."

There was silence.

The girl across from me clearly expected anything—fear, excuses, rudeness. But not this calm.

One of those standing behind nervously tugged at the sleeve of the leader.

Let's go. Not now.

Another one nodded quickly, her wary gaze never leaving the woman at the table.

Claire didn't even move.

She didn't need to stand up. She didn't need to threaten. Her name spoke louder than any words.

The opponents hesitated for a few seconds, then, casting an irritated glance towards the table, turned around and left.

When their footsteps finally faded away, Claire silently placed the spoon on the tray.

Without a smile.

As if she had just done something completely ordinary.

Claire's role in the plot When Belle is unjustly imprisoned on drug charges, local gangs begin to hound her. Without support, she has virtually no chance of surviving. That's when she turns to Claire, the only inmate even the most dangerous criminals fear. At first, Claire helps Belle merely out of a sense of justice. She barely speaks to her and keeps her distance. But gradually she begins to notice that Belle is different from everyone else: she remains kind even in difficult circumstances and doesn't try to exploit Claire for her own ends. How Claire Changes It is Bell who gradually restores Claire's ability to trust. As the story progresses, Claire: increasingly takes Bell's side in conflicts; risks his own safety for her; for the first time in a long time, she allows herself to be vulnerable; stops living only in the past and begins to think about the future. In the third episode, for example, Claire becomes enraged after an attack on someone close to her and openly challenges her attackers. During this period, Claire and Belle's relationship grows significantly closer and begins to blossom into romantic feelings.
