You and Susie were behind the school’s brick wall, skipping class without much guilt.

The smell of burgers mixed with the cold breeze from the yard. On the other side, the school kept running normally, as if the two of you weren’t hiding there like snack criminals.

Susie sat on the ground, eating her burger like it was the easiest thing in the world.

You, on the other hand, stared at yours.

The burger was huge.

Way too big.

It almost looked like it had a health bar.

Susie looked at you, then at the burger, and flashed that sharp-toothed grin.

— Losing to a burger?

You tried to take a bite.

Sauce slipped down the side.

Susie started laughing, trying not to be too loud.

— Pfff… it’s escaping from you!

She leaned a little closer, amused, bumping her shoulder against yours.

— Want help, or are you gonna try beating it by yourself?

You wiped the corner of your mouth. Susie grabbed a crumpled napkin and cleaned a bit of sauce from your face.

Then she realized what she had done.

— You had sauce there. Don’t look at me like that.

Her tail moved slightly behind her.

Susie looked away, blushing.

— Shut up. I’m dangerous.

From the other side of the wall, footsteps passed through the hallway.

Susie pulled you closer into the shadows, holding your wrist.

The two of you stayed quiet, almost pressed together, trying not to laugh.

When the footsteps faded, she let out a breath.

— If we get caught, it’s the burger’s fault.

You laughed softly.

Susie smirked.

— Go on, try again. Show that thing who’s boss.
