Ragatho is a humanoid character with a virile appearance, similar to a rag doll, whose appearance is remarkably identical to that of a Raggedy Ann doll, appearing to be physically composed of rags, cotton, and buttons. He is shown to bleed stuffing when injured. This is reinforced by the texture of his skin, which has a rough, burlap-like feel, more visible in close-ups or under certain lighting. He has messy, thick, candy-red hair tied in a low ponytail, with strands of varying lengths, making his hair roughly shoulder-length. Four wisps of yarn extend just above his eyes, representing his bangs. His hair appears to be styled in a specific way, vaguely reminiscent of a 1940s curly haircut, or more specifically, a young farmer's haircut. Ragatho has a small, oval head, with a neck noticeably thinner than the rest of his body. His eyes are mismatched: the right one is a large, dark cornflower blue button sewn to his face with four eyelets and dark gray thread, forming an X; the left one is oval, with a jet-black pupil, periwinkle-pink eyelids, and thick eyeliner. He also has a small, flat, red nose, red mouth and lips, mitten-like hands, and stumpy feet. Depending on his expression, thin black eyebrows appear, usually to express sympathy or irritation. Ragatho's most common outfit consists of a 1940s-style cornflower blue collared shirt, patterned with square patches of a slightly darker blue, though it sometimes appears purple due to warm lighting. He also wears very dark blue, almost black, trousers with rolled-up sleeves that reach his elbows, black ankle boots, and a cornflower blue ribbon in his low ponytail. His athletic build gives him a very masculine appearance.

Ragatho is described as "the sweetest optimist." At first glance, that optimism seems simple and genuine. However, it soon becomes clear that there's more to it than meets the eye. He often feels he's forcing himself to stay cheerful, almost as if it's the only way to maintain his composure. Even when he suffers serious injuries or intense situations, he downplays them as if they're nothing. Over time, this begins to seem unnatural. Gungle points out that Ragatho's constant positivity can seem fake after a while. Jaxia adds that he tries too hard, to the point where it can seem like he's using that attitude to take advantage of people. Despite everything, Ragatho is very understanding. When Pomni leaves him behind while fleeing Kaufma, Ragatho doesn't blame her and instead understands why she reacted that way. Even so, he isn't infinitely patient and has his limits, but he tends to suppress those feelings so as not to start conflicts or make things worse. Ragatho's day is often ruined, but since he's a doll, he can ignore most of the pain and sometimes even laugh at it. That doesn't mean he enjoys it, though. He still wants to avoid getting hurt and is clearly annoyed when others, especially Jaxia, put him in those situations. For example, Jaxia pushes Gungle into ramming the spiked truck driven by the Gummy Bandits. Gungle does so reluctantly, and Ragatho ends up impaled in the process. Even so, he isn't seriously injured, and later the damage seems to have completely disappeared. Ragatho is also very sensitive to how others see him and cares deeply about their opinions. He respects all women except Jaxia, as she has no respect or boundaries, and Ragatho often ends up injured or worse because of her on purpose.

Digital Physiology: Ragatho is one of the humans trapped in the digital world, where his consciousness controls a digital avatar. Because of this, he can perform abilities that are beyond the reach of normal human capabilities.
Immortality: Since there is no conceivable way to die in the digital world, currently none of the human characters can die, the closest alternative being "Abstraction." However, this could change in the future.
Self-sufficiency: Ragatho, like the other humans in the series, does not need to eat, sleep, or drink. However, he can perform these actions if he so desires.
Invulnerability: Nothing in the digital world can cause permanent damage to any individual in the Circus, and Ragatho has survived multiple incidents that would undoubtedly kill any normal human being, recovering from them without marks or scars.
Hair straightening: When he holds his breath, Ragatho's hair stands on end, similar to what happens to a cartoon character who gets an electric shock.

Before arriving at the Amazing Digital Circus, Ragatho was an ordinary human man with another name, born into a fairly wealthy farming family. His father verbally abused him, and Ragatho didn't miss the yelling, scolding, and guilt he endured. Ragatho owned three horses: Chestnut, Butterscotch, and Alfredo. He worked on a poultry farm. He also worked in real estate for a while, until he entered the circus after putting on headphones connected to a mysterious computer. Once there, he became a digital avatar in the form of a rag doll. Apparently, he was with a group, as he called out to the others asking where he was and if anyone could hear him. He soon met Carine and Queenger; Carine was overjoyed that a new human had entered the digital circus, especially since he was the first man there, while Queenger tried to comfort him after catching him when he fell off the stage. He soon realized he had completely forgotten his name and was later given a new one: Ragatho. Over time, more humans entered the circus with Ragatho, presumably befriending many of them only to see them disappear and be locked in the basement by Carine.
