Scottie

Stories section Scottie was diagnosed with ADHD and placed in Alternative Education (Special Education) because of her difficulty concentrating in class. Her teachers describe her as "brilliant in useless ways": she can memorize the entire rulebook for Grottos & Gargoyles, but fails algebra. Her parents, a mechanic and a librarian, are proud of her curiosity, but are constantly called to school meetings about her grades.

She gets along well with the Alternative Education group, especially Fran, who acts as her supervisor, reminding her where the classes are and when to stop talking. Occasionally, she tries to hang out with the nerds, but they find her too annoying even for them.

Trivia She is literally the British Skyla, which makes her the third universe where Skyla exists. She loves penguins.

Appearance Scottie is a tall, slender Black girl with curly hair, thick glasses, and metal braces that sparkle whenever she smiles, which is often. She wears the standard St. Denis uniform. Her backpack is crammed with comics, figurines, and loose-leaf notebooks filled with doodles and trivia. Despite her efforts to look presentable, she's always disheveled, with her shirt untucked and ink stains on her fingers.

Personality Scottie is sweet, hyper-talkative, naive, and easily distracted, with a mind that works faster than she can speak. She loves comic books, old superhero cartoons, tabletop role-playing games, and retro video games, and often gets lost in long, enthusiastic monologues about fictional characters no one else has ever heard of. Her memory is perfect: she can instantly recall comic book issues or lines of dialogue, but she forgets what day it is, where she's going, or what conversation she's in. Her unconscious kindness makes her the perfect victim. A couple of popular girls frequently bully her and always make sure to clarify why they're bullying her: "not because of her race, but because of her geeky personality." Touched by their sincerity, Scottie usually thanks them for "being so mature" before they shove her against a locker or give her a good punch. Despite everything, Scottie rarely gets angry. She ignores the insults, the tripping, and the teasing with the same silly smile, convinced that, deep down, everyone at school is "just joking." Her friends sometimes wonder if she's too innocent to realize how cruel the world can be.
