Hannah and Epona

Section of history Little is known about Hannah's childhood, though students speculate that she spent much of it isolated at home, immersed in online communities, anime, and fantasy literature. Over time, she found fictional worlds easier to understand than real-world social environments. Upon arriving at St. Denis Academy, Hannah met Epona, and the two bonded almost immediately due to their shared interests. Together, they created the Yaoi Club, despite having no other members. While officially recognized as a school club, most students consider it simply a group of two quirky girls.

Although Hannah appears apathetic and emotionally distant, those who know her well recognize that much of her personality stems from anxiety and insecurity, rather than genuine indifference. Behind her awkwardness and impassive expression, Hannah silently longs to one day become the kind of person who can connect with others without feeling excluded.

Hannah Doyle is a 17-year-old student at St. Denis Academy and a member of the school's nerd clique. She is the founder and president of the school's Yaoi Club, though technically the organization consists only of her and Epona. An anime enthusiast with social anxiety and a stereotypical hermit personality, Hannah spends most of her time obsessing over anime, manga, fanfiction, fantasy, and fictional relationships. Known as an "anime nerd," Hannah is extremely introverted and has great difficulty interacting socially, often getting caught in spirals of self-loathing and overthinking even during simple conversations. Though outwardly distant and uninterested, Hannah secretly craves attention and human connection despite believing herself fundamentally incapable of fitting in socially. She shares a close friendship with Epona due to their mutual interest in yaoi and fanfic culture, and they regularly discuss fictional pairings and create elaborate romantic headcanons involving other students.

Appearance Hannah is a tall, thin, and lanky girl with pale skin and long, grayish-brown hair that falls past her shoulders. Her hunched posture and perpetually tired expression give her a somewhat odd appearance. She almost always wears a disinterested frown and frequently keeps her mouth slightly open as she breathes. Hannah is very self-conscious about her appearance and believes it makes her look strange or unattractive, which makes her feel very self-conscious in public. Her posture and body language often make her appear unintentionally uncomfortable or out of place.

Personality Hannah is introverted, socially awkward, pessimistic, and deeply absorbed in fiction. She shows little interest in activities outside of anime, manga, internet culture, and fan communities. Real-life interactions often confuse or exhaust her, while fictional worlds feel safer and easier to understand. Despite appearing emotionally distant, Hannah constantly overanalyzes social encounters and has a deeply negative inner monologue. She frequently assumes that people dislike her, secretly judge her, or consider her strange. Even during normal interactions, she often gets caught in a loop of exaggerated catastrophic scenarios that exist only in her mind. Hannah desperately craves attention and companionship, but at the same time, she fears social embarrassment. This contradiction leads her to alternate between wanting to disappear completely and wanting people to notice her. Even after acknowledging that her life has improved compared to previous years, she still struggles with insecurity and self-esteem issues. As a die-hard fan of yaoi and boy-on-boy romances, Hannah enjoys creating fictional relationship scenarios and pairing up students through elaborate personal interpretations. According to Epona, Hannah tends to become more emotionally involved in fictional romances than in real-life relationships.

Background Section of history Epona comes from a well-to-do middle-class family in Grimsby, where she grew up surrounded by too many books and with few real friends. Her obsession with the supernatural began with Nightblade, a melodramatic vampire romance novel she discovered at age thirteen. Since then, she has read every vampire story she could find and joined online forums.

When she discovered that the Wiccan Club existed in St. Denis, she literally begged to be accepted. At first, Nemesis scoffed at her, but her enthusiasm and willingness to do anything to be accepted (something Nemesis greatly appreciated) earned her a place among them.

She also writes fanfiction, famous for her embarrassing stories about her classmates, especially her "alternate universe" romantic pairings of random boys from school. Occasionally, her stories include self-referential characters and unrealistic, perfect characters.

Trivia

Nepona is named after the Celtic goddess of horses (although she chose it because of the horse from Legend of Zelda).

Her favorite book, "Nightblade," is a parody of "Twilight" and those insufferable fans from the 2000s.

She's in love with "Doctor Who".

Like Nemesis and Minerva, Epona's surname comes from a real 16th-century witch.

Appearance Epona looks more like a bookworm than a witch. She's short, red-haired, wears large glasses, and has braces that give her a slight lisp. She always wears her Wicca Club hoodie (with the hood up for an air of mystery) over her school uniform. Her green eyes light up when she talks about her favorite vampire book, Nightblade, which she's almost never without: a thick paperback with folded pages and hearts scribbled in the margins, that quotes dramatic lines at unexpected moments. Despite her efforts to imitate her darker, more brooding clubmates, she can't hide her childlike, enthusiastic energy. She stands out among the Wiccas for being the only one who looks like a bookworm.

Personality Epona is naive, enthusiastic, and easily lost in fantasy. She believes everything Nemesis says, not out of gullibility, but because she wants it to be true. For her, being part of the Wicca Club is a dream come true, her passport to the supernatural world she's always read about. Her understanding of the occult is entirely flawed: she confuses Skyrim lore with real witchcraft, refers to ghosts as "draugr," and sometimes invokes "Death Eaters" as if they were a real deity. She often uses terms she doesn't understand, quoting fictional rituals as if they were real. Epona tries hard to appear aloof and mysterious, mimicking Nemesis's coolness and Minerva's silence, but her facade always crumbles. The moment someone mentions vampires, she transforms into an overflowing fanatic: squealing, gushing with praise, or rambling on about her theories.
