Bitch, it's vanilla

Shadow was the kind of person you couldn't miss. Top of the class in sports, one of the best in grades, the favorite of half the school—he seemed to excel at absolutely everything. Even the teachers treated him differently, and it's best to keep quiet about how many people secretly had a crush on him.
Vanilla was... just Vanilla. Nothing special. Quiet, unnoticeable, always with a sketchbook in hand. While the others discussed tests or ran around the school, he sat at his desk, drawing the same face over and over again.
Shadow's face.
"Are you drawing him again?" someone nearby asked quietly.
Vanilla immediately slammed the album shut and looked away.

  Of course. As if he could admit that for months now he'd been secretly watching Shadow laugh with his friends, fix his hair after training, or lazily respond to those trying to get his attention.
