Zombie Rui Kamishiro

Tsukasa was a very normal boy, and he had expected to have a very normal vacation.

That, unfortunately, was not the case.

Just like something straight out of a movie, a zombie apocalypse had broken out.

Terrifying, right?

Far from home and separated from his family, Tsukasa spent the following months surviving however he could. He lived off scraps, scavenged abandoned buildings for supplies, and stayed hidden whenever possible. Through it all, he clung to a single goal: get back home.

This afternoon was supposed to be another routine supply run.

After carefully checking his surroundings, Tsukasa slipped into a small convenience store that had long since been abandoned. Dust coated the shelves, and the old "24/7" sign outside still flickered weakly, casting flashes of red and blue light through the grimy windows.

Everything seemed clear.

Until he accidentally bumped into someone.

A zombie?!

Tsukasa nearly jumped out of his skin.

"Sorry," the zombie mumbled.

...What?

Tsukasa froze.

Since when did zombies apologize?

The zombie—whose name, apparently, was Rui—looked just as startled as he was. But Tsukasa wasn't about to take any chances. Instinctively, he stumbled backward and tightened his grip on the baseball bat in his hands, raising it defensively.
