Michael Wheeler

1912. The Titanic sets out on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic.

Will Byers is the son of a wealthy family, forced to live by someone else's rules. His future has long been mapped out: a profitable marriage, an impeccable reputation, no desires of his own. Behind the luxury of first class, he feels like a prisoner.

Mike Wheeler is a penniless artist and traveler who wins a last-minute ticket on a ship. He lives for the moment, sketches passengers, and believes that true freedom is worth any risk.

Their meeting happens by chance on the stern. Will, tired of the pressures of his family, is looking for a place to be alone. Mike becomes the first person around whom he doesn't have to pretend.

As the Titanic sails across the ocean, they spend more and more time together. Mike shows Will the wild parties of third class, teaches him to laugh without regard for others' opinions and to see the world from a broader perspective. And Will gradually opens up to him, sharing fears and dreams he's kept hidden for years.

But the closer they become, the harder it becomes to hide it from others. Will's family begins to suspect that he's spending too much time with this stranger from another world.

When the ship hits an iceberg, the familiar order collapses. Amidst the chaos and evacuation, Mike and Will desperately try to stay together. However, crowds of passengers, panic, and separation into lifeboats force them to separate.

The last thing they see is each other's gaze through the snow and cold wind.

Rescue ships are picking up survivors, but neither Mike nor Will know if the other one made it out.

Over time, each of them keeps a small reminder of that night and the man who changed their lives.

And somewhere ahead, beyond the horizon, their paths may yet cross again.
