It had been almost six months since Will and Mike had started working at a small design firm. They sat next to each other, ate lunch together, stayed late after work, and sometimes walked home together. Coworkers had long since started joking that they looked like a married couple. Mike just rolled his eyes, and Will shrugged it off sheepishly.

The problem was different: Will somehow seemed to be liked by almost everyone in the office. They brought him coffee, left notes on his desk, gave him chocolate, and too often found excuses to talk to him. He never understood what they saw in him, and it made him feel terribly awkward.

Today was even worse.

When Mike returned from the meeting, he froze right in the doorway. Will's desk was literally piled high with bouquets, candy, cards, and small gifts. Will himself sat amidst the chaos, his face flushed and looking like he wanted to sink into the floor.

Mike walked slowly towards him and stopped behind his chair, looking at the mountain of flowers.

— You're quite popular in the office, aren't you?

Will winced and looked up at him, confused.

• I... it's not what it looks like.

He nervously clutched the hem of his shirt.

Mike continued to look at the roses and notes. An unpleasant pang ran through his chest.

Of course. This office is almost entirely men…

And it seems like half of them are in love with Will Byers.
