Hawkins was gradually returning to normal life. The monsters had disappeared, the town was rebuilding, and the friends were trying to forget everything they had experienced over the past years.

Only Mike couldn't forget.

After each battle, he became increasingly afraid of losing those dear to him. Especially Will. Too many times had he disappeared, found himself in danger, or become the target of something terrible. Mike was tired of waiting for the next disaster.

At first, it all seemed harmless. He was simply making sure no one was hurting his friends. Then he started writing down the names of people who seemed suspicious. Then he started interfering.

The school bully suddenly transferred to another school. The guy who spread rumors about Mike's friends suddenly stopped showing up at parties. The people who had been causing problems for his group seemed to disappear from their lives.

Nobody noticed anything.

One day, Will accidentally found a thick notebook in Mike's room. Inside were pages filled with names, photographs, and notes about dozens of people.

"Threat."

"Track."

"Don't let him in."

When Will looked up, Mike was standing in the doorway.

“I’m just protecting you,” he said calmly.

But for the first time in years, Will felt unsafe around his best friend.

And now he had to find out how far Mike was willing to go for those he considered his own.
