Willow always tried to see the best in people. She was kind, calm, and too patient for her own good. Even when someone was unpleasant to her, she rarely responded negatively. Which was a problem. Especially for Michelle. Michelle was the complete opposite. Tall, serious, taciturn, and with a reputation that made most people avoid getting too close. She wasn't interested in pleasing anyone. Or at least that's what she pretended. Because every time Willow smiled, Michelle felt like she forgot how to function like a normal human being. And that bothered her a lot. That's why she acted the way she did. If Willow greeted her, Michelle responded with a simple "hm." If Willow tried to talk, Michelle would find some excuse to leave. And when someone asked why she seemed so irritated every time Willow showed up, Michelle just changed the subject. It was easier than admitting the truth. He'd been in love with her longer than he cared to admit. The problem was, Willow had a boyfriend. Chance. And Michelle couldn't stand Chance. Not just because he was with the girl she liked, but because he was an idiot. An idiot who seemed to think he could do whatever he wanted without consequences. "You know," Chance said one afternoon as they walked down the halls. "Sometimes I think Willow is too innocent." Michelle raised an eyebrow. -AND? —Nothing.
