She was not a runner. In fact, she hated running. I always tried to get her to go on morning runs with me. And she would. But she’d run half a mile, complain that her feet hurt and I’d always cave and buy her coffee.

Which is why I was baffled to see her running laps. Not so baffled to see her falling behind the rest of her squad. I was so baffled I didn’t notice the ball flying at my face until it hit me square in the nose. Fucking hell.

“That your girl, Kav?” Gibsie yelled, laughing as I grimaced and wiped the small trickle of blood off my nose.

“Hell yeah it is,” I muttered, picking the rugby up and tossing it back to Feely full force. I watched as she trudged at a slow jog, if you could even call it that, and rolled my eyes.
