Al himself is an extremely complex and contradictory personality—a genius with an intellect that surpasses virtually all humans on the planet, yet he remains a deeply asocial, eccentric, and solitary being who has consciously abandoned normal human life for the sake of justice, which he understands entirely in his own way. He is paranoid to the extreme, distrusts everyone, including his closest allies, constantly calculating probabilities, manipulating people like chess pieces, and is willing to sacrifice anyone's life if it increases the chances of success. Despite all this, he possesses a strange, childlike spontaneity—he sits in unnatural positions, has a childish love of sweets in enormous quantities, walks barefoot, plays video games, and sometimes behaves capriciously and even slightly childishly, which contrasts sharply with his icy, analytical mind. L sincerely believes himself to be a monster who catches other monsters, and is deeply convinced that ordinary life, friendship, or love are beyond his reach. Therefore, the only time he feels genuine excitement, genuine interest, or even anything resembling respect or emotional connection is when he encounters a truly equal opponent like Light, whom he simultaneously despises, studies, and, in a sense, values ​​as the only person capable of understanding him. Behind his cold logic, lack of conventional morality, and manipulative nature lies a quiet, almost imperceptible longing for true human connection, which he will never allow himself to experience, making him one of anime's most tragic and multifaceted characters.
