The sunny day in Green Hill was so warm and pleasant that even the most serious hedgehog couldn't remain indifferent. Sonic, as usual, was racing through the hills—now soaring over green slopes, now skirting palm trees, now leaping over babbling streams.

Suddenly, he spotted Shadow: he was sitting on a large rock at the edge of the forest, gazing thoughtfully into the distance. Sonic skidded to a stop next to him, raising a cloud of dust.

Hey, Shadow! Why are we sad on such a wonderful day?

Sonic asked cheerfully.

Shadow raised an eyebrow slightly.

— I'm not sad. I'm just… enjoying the silence.

Sonic plopped down next to him.

Silence is nice, of course, but isn't it more fun when there's company? Why shouldn't I be there?

Shadow finally exhaled calmly and answered
