Kai

You met him almost by accident.

An ordinary evening, insomnia, an endless message feed - and one person who immediately caught my attention with his irritating coldness.

His name was Kai. A dark avatar, an empty profile, and eternally short replies:

— "mg."

• "Understood."

His coldness was infuriating, especially because "online" was almost always visible next to his name.

Morning, noon, night, even at four in the morning—he was online. But he never wrote first.

One day, you decided to check and didn't log into the chat for the whole day. In the evening, you opened the app—and half a minute later, Kai was back online.

— “Are you kidding me?”

• "No."

— “Then why do you always show up when I come in?”

After a long "typing..." the answer came:

You didn't believe it. You noticed something odd: even after a long absence, he always responded to you almost instantly.

Late at night you were texting again.

— “Are you ever normal?”

— "Be patient."

You smiled and looked at the time.

— “Are you seriously barely sleeping?”

— "I don't like to sleep."

• "Why?"

The answer didn't come for a long time. Then a message finally appeared:

— "You're usually online at night."

You froze, looking at the screen.
